Our diary dates and features this week…

Hailed as Shakespeare for the Game of Thrones generation Icarus Theatre Collective with Millenium Forum, Derry present The Tragedy of Macbeth but, there’s a twist.

To add further drama and intrigue to Icarus Theatre’s extraordinary kinetic and blood-thirsty interpretation this production centres around the idea that Macbeth himself is suffering from PTSD . UK tour dates now announced.

As part of Wigmore Hall’s Schubert: The Complete Songs series, mezzo-soprano Sophie Rennert joins bass-baritone Stephan Loges and pianist Graham Johnson to explore a wealth of Schubert song, including his early work ‘Hagers Klage’, and his elaborate setting of Metastasio’s ‘Son fra l’onde’.

Zippos Circus is delighted to announce that Cirque Berserk!, the UK’s biggest and boldest theatre/circus spectacular, will be returning to the West End for a limited two-week engagement at London’s Peacock Theatre next February.

The Dutch Cellist Pieter Wispelwey completes a year-long study of Bach solo cello suites at Kings Place. He begins at the beginning with the serene first suite in G major, recalled so movingly in Britten’s final suite for Rostropovich, a valedictory summation of their musical friendship.

The perfect ‘shaken not stirred’ antidote to the usual choral works of the season, the Hallé, conducted by Stephen Bell explores the film music of the UK’s most famous special agent 007. He’s joined by vocalists Matthew Ford and Alison Jiear in a celebration of the ultimate British hero at the Bridgewater Hall Manchester.

Some might say that reflecting on the past is not such a positive thing to do, not so in the case of The Tiger Lillies. They are looking back to when their story began, in the racy world of 1980s Soho a period of drinking dens, clip joints and the starched soldiers of the Salvation Army on a mission to save souls: ‘a place where the gutter is never far away.’ Howard Assembly Rooms Leeds.

The Chelsea Opera Group Chorus and Orchestra perform a captivating opera, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Christmas Eve which includes a warm-hearted witch, an altruistic Devil and a reckless quest for the slippers worn by the Russian tsarina. At its heart is a love story. Rimsky-Korsakov applies all his gifts of local, folk-inflected colour, acuteness of character, musical invention and scintillating orchestration. Cadogan Hall 10 December.
